You'll then begin by adding 1 1/2 cups of sugar to the oil, along with the peppermint extract and green food coloring. Mix until the ingredients are evenly combined. If the mixture is too wet, add another 1/2 cup of sugar until it reaches your desired consistency. Spoon the scrub into air-tight mason jars and decorate with ribbon.

(If you do not have the pinking shears, place the fabric right side together and sew as instructed. Then turn it inside out.) Fill the squares 3/4 of the way up with rice. Use a pin to block the rice from falling out and sew the opening closed. Use the pinking shears to trim the edges. It'll prevent them from fraying.

As you begin glueing the next tea bag, slightly overlap it over the one that was just glued. Complete the base of the cone before moving upwards. Repeat the glueing process until you reach the top. Attach the top of the round cardboard box to the base of the cone using hot glue. Add some rice to the bottom half of the box to weigh it down and add some stability. Use glue to then seal the box shut. To top it off, glue the wooden star trinket to the top of the cone.

Tape the edges of the hole down to the mug so that only the tape surrounding the handle is exposed. Follow the same pattern with the stencil. Cut a hole in the bag to expose the letter. Then tape the bag down around the letter. Spray paint the mug with your choice of color. Once it dries, spray two full coats of clear acrylic and bake in an oven at 200 degrees for 20 minutes. Infused Olive Oils

7 Easy DIY Christmas Gifts

Ingredients:

Lemon-Infused
  • 2 whole lemons
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 4-oz glass bottle with cork
Rosemary-Infused
  • 3-4 sprigs rosemary
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 4-oz glass bottle with cork
Chili-Infused
  • 1 tbsp red chili flakes
  • 1 to 2 whole, dried Thai chilies (optional)
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 4-oz glass bottle with cork
Garlic-Infused
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup whole, peeled garlic cloves
  • Juice from 1/4 lime
  • 1 to 2 cups extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 4-oz glass bottles with cork

Directions:

Lemon-Infused

Carefully strip one lemon of its zest using a vegetable peeler. Try to keep each strip long and wide. Stuff zest strips into the bottle. Zest your second lemon and set aside. Heat olive oil in a saucepan until a few bubbles start forming. Scoop zest from second lemon into the olive oil. Let it steep for approx. 30 minutes. Carefully pour the lemony oil into the bottle over the uncooked strips of lemon zest, making sure not to let any of the cooked strips of lemon zest get in. Cork the bottle and store in the refrigerator.

Rosemary-Infused

Stuff rosemary sprigs into the glass bottle and set aside. Heat olive oil in a saucepan until a few bubbles start forming. Carefully pour warm olive oil into bottle over rosemary. Cork the bottle and store in the refrigerator.

Chili-Infused

Pour chili flakes into the glass bottle and set aside. Heat olive oil in a saucepan until a few bubbles start forming. Carefully pour warm olive oil into bottle over the chili flakes. Cork the bottle and store in the refrigerator.

Garlic-Infused

Put the cloves in a bowl with the lime juice and let sit for 15 minutes. Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Reserving the juice for later, drain the lime juice from the cloves. Spread out the cloves in one layer in a small baking dish. Pour enough olive oil over the garlic so that the cloves are completely immersed. Roast in a hot oven for 30-45 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool. Scoop the cloves from the oil into a bowl using a slotted spoon. Pour the reserved lime juice over the cloves with 1/2 cup your oil and stir to combine. Pack garlic cloves in an airtight container. Pour enough of the oil over roasted cloves to cover. Strain the remaining oil into your glass bottle and use as garlic-infused oil.

Chevrolet's List of Tips for Transporting Your Holiday Tree Home

OKEMOS, Mich.,–– Now that the holidays are upon us, it's time to get together with your family and head out to find the perfect Christmas tree. It's better to be prepared for your adventure so that you get your family and your tree home safe this year. Not only is transporting your tree a hassle, but it can be very dangerous as well. Take a look at Chevrolet's list of tips for transporting your holiday tree home.

Chevrolet's List of Tips for Transporting Your Holiday Tree Home

Chevrolet engineers put together these tips to make your trip home from your tree-hunting adventure a much safer one:

1. First and foremost, dress warm! Wear gloves to protect your hands and bring a piece of cardboard to put under your knees when you're cutting down the tree.

2. If you've made room inside your vehicle for your tree, make sure to lay something down like a piece of tarp to keep your car clean. If you're going with the old-fashioned tree on top of the car method, make sure you have cross rails installed on the top of your vehicle to avoid damage to the paint.

3. Tightly bound the tree with tie or rope to make sure it doesn't move before you tie it to the top of your vehicle.

4. Face the stump end of the tree towards the front of the car. This will reduce aerodynamic drag and ensure you have a safe ride home.

5. Lay down your tree over top of the cross rails. Then, loop twine over and around it. Repeat to then cinch it in a figure-eight motion. This will secure the tree tightly to the roof of your car and protect it from moving around during your drive.

6. Try to avoid taking highways on your route home. Take secondary roads if possible!

7. Chevrolet's Bonus Tip: Choose a vehicle with many infotainment and tech features, such as the 2018 Chevy Traverse. With options available such as OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility and 120-volt power outlet, you'll be able to take the holiday party with you wherever you go!

Chevrolet's List of Tips for Transporting Your Holiday Tree Home

The most important thing to remember is to cherish the time spent with your family not only during your tree-hunting experience, but during the entire holiday season as well. You'll make memories that'll last a lifetime and have a safe trip if you follow Chevrolet's list of tips for transporting your holiday tree home. It will be easier to travel this year if you are in a vehicle equipped with all your holiday season needs. Check out our 2018 Traverse and Equinox inventory for an SUV that has plenty of cargo space, innovative technology, and multiple safety features. GM Employees Take Initiative to Help out Hurricane-Struck Puerto Rico and Texas

OKEMOS, Mich.,–– Our social responsibility to our country is to help those in need when crisis strikes. For better or for worse, we are supposed to stick together. GM employees did just that when Texas and Puerto Rico were struck with a major disaster just over a month ago. Any little bit of help makes an impact during a considerable and difficult time for many families. Relief was sent when GM employees took initiative to help out hurricane-struck Puerto Rico and Texas.

GM Employees Take Initiative to Help out Hurricane-Struck Puerto Rico and Texas

Donations were made by hundreds of GM employees to Puerto Rico that amounted to 12 tons of goods. These items included solar cellphone chargers and lights, batteries, canned foods, baby formula, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, and bottled water. 25 employees gathered together saws, hammers, tape, and other necessary supplies to help repair the homes of families struck by Hurricane Maria.

“There were so many people involved in this project,” said NASCAR Program Manager Alba Colon, who is from Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. “It would be impossible to recognize everyone, but we would not have done this without all those involved in planning, leads from every area, managers, supervisors, teamGM Cares and employees from facilities, docks and truck drivers. Everyone had an important role in making this happen.”

Many employees collected trailers full of goods and delivered them to various nonprofit organizations that were along the impacted areas in Texas. On top of all that, there were 30 employees who helped clean up the debris from homes of hurricane victims. They also began to start rebuilding these homes as an initiative from the Habitat Hammers Back campaign launch.

The incredible work that these employees have done to make a difference in the lives of those affected by Hurricane Maria and Hurricane Harvey has been tremendous. Uniting as a company and as a country is a testament in itself. A special thank you to the GM employees that took initiative to help out hurricane-struck Puerto Rico and Texas! The Spirit of the American Family Road Trip Remains Alive

OKEMOS, Mich.,–– Family road trips: an American tradition. As the holiday season begins, family road trips will be at an all-time high, as it's the time of year to visit family and friends. Although road trips are the new family dinner table, parents still get stressed out. A new survey conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of Chevrolet revealed some interesting points about parents' stress derived from road trips. Through a series of questions, Chevrolet found that the spirit of the American family road trip remains alive.

The Spirit of the American Family Road Trip Remains Alive

Surprisingly, kids are not the source of parents' stress on road trips. Increased amounts of traffic stress parents out the most. However, in-vehicle technologies, such as Wi-Fi and USB outlets, could lead to a better road trip experience overall. Good thing Chevy offers a slew of these in-vehicle technologies and safety features that make family road trips more enjoyable, including plenty of storage space, USB outlets, 4G LTE Wi-Fi, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto compatibility. The following statistics were found from the survey:

Technology

Parents hold in-car Wi-Fi at the top of their wish list for better road trips.

  • "56 percent of parents say that having Wi-Fi/internet connectivity would help make their family road trips more enjoyable."

Love for Road Trips

Families do love taking road trips together. It's the time when they can bond together and make special memories while on the road.

  • "93 percent of all parents say they like or love taking road trips with their family, including more than half (53 percent) who “love” it. Of those who take road trips, 95 percent like or love them, including 55 percent who say they “love” them."
  • "Spending time with family (80 percent) and exploring and stopping at interesting locations and destinations (69 percent) are parents’ top two favorite aspects of family road trips."
  • "Traffic and other unexpected delays is by far the most stressful part of the family road trip, according to nearly two in three parents (63%)."

Quick Stats

According to the survey, there is indeed a perfect road trip length.

  • "American parents who take road trips believe that the “perfect” family road trip length is typically six hours."

There are plenty of distractions for the kids.

  • "Parents who take road trips today bring 6.6 mobile devices, on average, in the vehicle."

SUVs are the vehicle of choice on road trips.

  • "Nearly two-thirds of all American parents (63 percent) say they would prefer to take a family road trip in an SUV over any other type of vehicle, with more than two in five (42 percent) preferring a large SUV with three rows."

Kids have a say, too.

  • "67 percent of parents who take road trips involve their children in the planning."

The Spirit of the American Family Road Trip Remains Alive
