Car Care Tips for Spring Cleaning

OKEMOS, Mich., – It's just about time to do some spring cleaning! For many people, this usually means cleaning out the closets, the garage, or the kitchen cabinets. But don't forget about your car! Your vehicle definitely deserves some attention as well! We've listed some important car care tips for spring cleaning to get you started so you can keep your vehicle in great shape all year long!

1. Remove Trash

Start by clearing out your vehicle of all the accumulated trash like receipts, bottles, and wrappers. Remove things that don't belong in the car like clothing or winter gear.

2. Dust & Vacuum

Use a can of compressed air to remove dirt from your vents, radio dials, or any other nooks and crannies. Then use your Shop Vac at home or the industrial vacuum cleaner at the car wash to remove dirt, leaves, and debris from the floor and seats.

3. Preserve Interior Surfaces

Use Armor All cleaning wipes or all purpose cleaning spray to clean out your cup holders and sanitize your other interior surfaces. Don't forget your steering wheel, dashboard, and door handles!

4. Wipe the Windows

Use Windex or something similar to clean the inside of your windows. Don't forget about your front and rear windshield and your sun or moon roof if you have one.

5. Head to the Car Wash

Head to the car wash to get your vehicle looking shiny and nice on the outside too! You could also hand wash your car at home, but either way, remember to hand dry! Air drying can leave spots on the paint!

Additionally, try these car hacks to keep your ride fresh all year long!

• Use wax melts and a small mason jar as a DIY air freshener!
• Place silicone cupcake liners in your cup holders to keep them clean! The cupcake liners can be tossed in the dishwasher!
• Keep tissues in a to-go cup for easy access.
• Keep a small container or bag for trash to keep your car clean.
• Wipe your wiper blades with rubbing alcohol to prevent streaks!

5 Tips to a Healthier You

OKEMOS, Mich. – This week has been National Women’s Health Week! In celebration of women’s health we have put together our 5 tips to a healthier you. We know it can be difficult to change to a healthier lifestyle. From packing your lunch to remembering annual doctor visits, you will find our tips make getting healthy easy! Try these 5 tips today and see how much better you will feel!

1) Pack A Lunch

Packing your lunch is an easy and fun way to get to a healthier lifestyle. When you go out to eat everyday during the workweek you consume more calories than you would think. By eating food from fast food restaurants you ingest mostly empty calories from fats and sugars. When making your own lunch, you know what foods are going in your body. You have more control over how many calories you consume and what food groups you eat from. Also it can be fun and get creative!

2) Exercise 30 Minutes a Day

Studies are showing that 30 minutes a day of exercise can help you not only lose excess weight, but help you live longer too. Health benefits from a 30-minute exercise include better heart health, muscle strength, regulate cholesterol, and lower blood pressure. Having a high enough aerobic exercise for only 30 minutes per day also increases weight loss. Everyone is different and you should begin your workout routine gradually. If you have any medical history or physical concerns, speak with your physician before any exercise regimen.

3) Get Enough Sleep

Getting enough sleep is about as important as getting enough exercise. When we sleep we are giving our bodies time to regenerate energy, help brain function, and can benefit your physical health. Sleep helps your body balance the hormones that make you feel hungry. When you do not get enough sleep during the night your body may become hungrier, trying to make up for the lack of energy. Another benefit to sleep is healthy growth and development. It helps children’s body grow and can help adults with muscle mass and repairing cell tissue. Sleeping a full 7 to 9 hours of sleep has shown to improve not only your alertness and concentration, but helps your health and wellbeing as well.

4) Drink Enough Water

Drinking enough water helps your body in more ways than just maintaining a healthy weight. Up to 60% of the adult human body is water! Water is the magical drink that helps all of the parts of our body to work properly. Water helps energize our muscles, keeps our skin clear, and helps keep organs like our kidneys running correctly. Make sure you get enough water in your diet by drinking six to eight 8 ounce glasses. The amount of water you need in a day can vary based on how much you exercise, and what climate you live in.

5) Visit Your Doctor Regularly

Living a healthy lifestyle is more than eating healthy and exercising. It is also important to make sure your body is running properly and clear of diseases. When you get in the habit of routinely visiting your doctors you can benefit yourself by preventing any later illnesses or injuries. Not only is it good to schedule routine visits with your primary care physician, but your dentist and optometrist as well!

Chevrolet and The National Navy SEAL Museum Honor National Military Appreciation Month

The 2016 Special Ops Edition Silverado is based off of the 2016 Silverado 1500 platform. It is the newest addition to the Silverado Special Edition family. Chevrolet Will Feature the 50th Anniversary Camaro SS Edition at the Indy 500

OKEMOS, Mich. – This year marks a big milestone for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Chevrolet. On May 29th, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will celebrate its 100th run of the famous Indianapolis 500 race. Chevrolet will feature the 50th Anniversary Camaro SS edition at the Indy 500 as the honorary pace car for the event. Chevrolet and the Indianapolis 500 have a long history together dating back to 1948.

At the race this May, motorsports legend Roger Penske will be the official driver of the Camaro SS pace car. Having Chevrolet and Penske at the Indy 500 seems like a match made is heaven for Indianapolis Motor Speedway President J. Douglas Boles, who is quoted saying, “Chevrolet and Roger Penske are inextricably linked to the heritage of the Indianapolis 500. When he leads the pack on May 29th, behind the wheel of the Camaro SS, he will drive the race into its next 100 years and strengthen the bond Chevrolet and Indianapolis forged a century ago.”

The 50th Anniversary Edition of the Chevrolet Camaro offers a distinct look in celebration of its many years. It will feature specific 20-inch 50th Anniversary wheels, a unique grille with satin chrome accents, orange brake calipers (on LT models only), and distinct 50th anniversary treatments on the instrument panel, steering wheel, seat backs, and illuminated sill plates. The Chevrolet Camaro SS needed no performance modifications to become the pace car at the Indy 500.
