Fill-a-Chevy Coat Drive for the Cristo Rey Community Center

OKEMOS, Mich. –– Have you ever tried filling a Chevrolet Silverado with as many coats, hats, and gloves possible? Probably not, but Hank Graff Chevrolet Okemos is about to see how high we can get that number during our Fill-a-Chevy coat drive for the Cristo Rey Community Center in Lansing.

Fill-a-Chevy Coat Drive for the Cristo Rey Community Center

The winter months can get pretty bitter in Mid Michigan, so we ask our friends and family to consider donating their new and gently used coats, hats, and gloves to those in need. In exchange, we’ll give you $5 off your oil change for every coat donated, with a maximum of $10 per visit. Donations will be accepted all month long, which means we should receive plenty of winter-wear to hand over to the Cristo Rey Community Center!

Fill-a-Chevy Coat Drive for the Cristo Rey Community Center

OKEMOS, Mich. –– Taking further initiative to continue advancing science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs in the U.S., Chevy will donate a 2016 Chevrolet Volt to FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), a K–12 robotics program that supports STEM programs nationwide.

FIRST will auction the 2016 Volt––an electric vehicle capable of an EPA-estimated electric range of 53 miles that you can learn more about here––Chevy is donating to raise money for students robotics across the U.S., namely in communities lacking resources to uphold strong STEM education programs. The 2016 Chevy Volt is a fitting donation in the sense that it's currently Chevrolet's most scientifically and technologically advanced vehicle on the market.

Funds produced from the 2016 Chevy Volt donation will be used to shore up FIRST teams across the nation, according to Chevrolet Marketing Director Steve Majoros.

"The Volt exemplified technology, and behind the next-generation Chevrolet Volt is a diverse team of engineers who understand the power of science and math," said Majoros. "FIRST brings science and math alive outside the classroom, just like we are bringing it alive on the road."

General Motors is a Founding and Strategic Partner to FIRST, creating a rich history of collaboration extending back many years. A notable example from 2014 shows that GM partnered with 866 FIRST teams totaling 10,000 students nationwide on various projects. Chevrolet donating a 2016 Volt to support STEM education is once again a supporting step GM is taking to continue advancing FIRST and students interested in STEM careers.

At our Mason area Chevrolet dealer, where we hold a vast selection of technologically advance new Chevy cars and new Chevy trucks, we're excited to see Chevrolet spreading its knowledge and support of STEM education in order to help this industry continue to produce advanced and quality American vehicles.

Hank Graff Chevrolet Okemos is committed to providing you with integrity and convenience, all close to home. Let our friendly team of Chevy professionals at Hank Graff Okemos help you. Help Rotary and the Gates Foundation End Polio Around the World

Help Rotary and the Gates Foundation End Polio Around the World

OKEMOS, Mich. –– Stop in at Hank Graff Chevrolet Okemos and spare some change to help us aid Rotary and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in ending polio around the world as they move through the last phase of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.

For every $25 raised, the Gates foundation will match it with $50 creating a total of $75 that will go towards providing equipment to help conquer polio in the remaining 1% of polio-endemic countries –– Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Nigeria. Your money will go towards one of three forms of aid, including:

  • 150 Vests for Volunteers: Bright yellow vests help those seeking vaccination to recognize health workers and volunteers easily.
  • 75 Vaccine Carriers: Oral polio vaccine must be kept cool to remain effective.
  • 600 Purple Finger Markers: Children’s pinky fingers are marked with purple ink to show they’ve been immunized.

Poliomyelitis, more commonly referred to as polio, is a highly infectious viral disease that leads to paralysis, particularly with vulnerable young children who live in poor, remote countries without access to modern standards of hygiene or medical care. The most disheartening facts of polio are how easily it can be spread and that it has no cure; however, this egregious disease can be prevented by immunization; therefore, it’s time to get philanthropic.

While polio has decreased by 99% –– from 350,000 case since GPEI launched in 1988, to 223 cases in 2012 –– any decrease in funding for polio immunizations could quickly lead to the disease rebounding, causing 200,000 children to be paralyzed each year within a decade.

The 2013–2018 Polio Eradication and Endgame Strategic Plan is estimated to cost $5.5 billion and has raised funding commitments of $4 billion, leaving a commitment gap of $1.5 billion. If Rotary and the Gates Foundation are able to secure support from governments, nongovernmental organizations, corporations, and the public like you and our staff, GPEI could bring polio to a worldwide end.

Although the majority of us don’t have the capability or influence to change the world as drastically as Rotary and the Gates Foundation have with GPEI, each of our smaller efforts combined can help create a worldwide effect that prevents this disease from terrorizing anymore children and adults. Learn more about how you can help Rotary and the Gates Foundation end polio around the world here.

Hank Graff Chevrolet Okemos is committed to making a difference in our community and beyond, whether it's by raising funds to aid international disease prevention efforts, or by providing you with integrity and convenience close to home. 2016 Chevrolet Silverado HD New Technology

2016 Chevrolet Silverado HD Technology Updates
© General Motors

OKEMOS, Mich. – The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado is a tough truck with a tough job, but Chevy wants to keep your task of driving the pickup easy and convenient and that’s exactly what drivers will get with new technology in the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado HD.

With Digital Steering Assist, you have the power to haul and trailer with less effort than ever before thanks to electronic controls that improve road holding and stability on the highway and crowned roads. Whether or not your truck is loaded, Digital Steering Assist enables your Silverado to respond quicker to the condition of a road. Unfortunately, this technology isn’t available on Work Trucks.

Along with Digital Steering Assist, the new Silverado is debuting a Gooseneck/5th Wheel Trailering Prep Package for the model that allows you to tow large trailers from the factory, and is accompanied by a spray-in bedliner. The trailering prep package equips your pickup with a frame-mounted hitch platform and tray that accommodates a gooseneck ball hitch or fifth wheel hitch mounting brackets, and a cargo bed-mounted trailer harness. You can also find a Gooseneck Completion Kit that features a 2-5/16-inch ball hitch and tow chain tie-downs at Hank Graff Chevrolet Okemos in the near future.

Chevy’s infotainment system MyLink will also see improvements for the 2016 Silverado, namely by providing you with more connectivity options.  A major MyLink update includes a new HD radio with a 7-inch-diagonal touchscreen that comes with improvements like a faster processor, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. The 8-inch screen provides CarPlay capability as well, but Android Auto capability won’t be implemented until later in the year.

Along with a list of new technology for the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado HD, the pickup achieved maximum trailering ratings that meet SAE J2807 –– Performance Requirements for Determining Tow-Vehicle Gross Combination Weight Rating and Trailer Weight Rating –– standards thanks to the optional powertrain combination of a Duramax 6.6L turbo-diesel and Allison 1000 six-speed transmission.

This brief glimpse into a few the new upgrades the 2016 Silverado showcases are enough to remind us of how Chevy is always moving forward. Despite its constant innovativeness, you can still see vast amounts of ingenuity in the used trucks by Chevy at our Okemos area used car dealer.

Hank Graff Chevrolet Okemos is committed to providing you with integrity and convenience, all close to home. 2016 Chevy SS Updates

2016 Chevy SS Updates
© General Motors

OKEMOS, Mich. – If you’re a Chevrolet SS fan, your admiration for the vehicle is probably rooted in an appreciation for performance and design elements that effortlessly coalesce into a powerful and stylish sedan. Updates to the 2016 Chevy SS thoroughly exhibit that meticulous fusion of engineering and creativity the vehicle has always been lauded for.

Recent changes to the 2016 model align with the “character of the sedan” in a truer fashion than ever before while “further enhancing the car’s overall performance,” said Todd Christenson, Chevrolet Performance Car marketing manager. The new SS showcases a multiple exterior upgrades that bolster its prominence as a rear-drive sports sedan, and some of the most notable 2016 Chevy SS design updates include:

  • A revamped front fascia with new, vertical ducts at the ends that guide airflow over the front wheel openings to improve aerodynamics
  • LED signature lighting on the front fascia
  • Functional hood vents
  • 19-inch cast-aluminum wheels

Despite a number of laudable design upgrades, Chevy will maintain the SS’s current fusion of performance, comfort, and spaciousness. The sedan is equipped with a 6.2L V8 engine, and yields an SAE-certified 415 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. You can drive off with a six-speed manual transmission or a paddle-shift six-speed automatic transmission.

There is one significant performance enhancement that should score some brownie points with drivers. A new, dual-mode exhaust system takes the V8’s sonorous bellow down a few decibels when you’re driving at low speeds, but lets the engine roar when you open the throttle.

If you’re searching for an adventure in style and performance, you can trust the updated 2016 Chevy SS is a sports sedan that will grant your wish. Stop by our Chevy dealer near Dewitt, MI, to check out our SS inventory.
