Tape the edges of the hole down to the mug so that only the tape surrounding the handle is exposed. Follow the same pattern with the stencil. Cut a hole in the bag to expose the letter. Lemon-Infused

Carefully strip one lemon of its zest using a vegetable peeler. Try to keep each strip long and wide. Stuff zest strips into the bottle. Zest your second lemon and set aside. Heat olive oil in a saucepan until a few bubbles start forming. Scoop zest from second lemon into the olive oil. Let it steep for approx. 30 minutes. Carefully pour the lemony oil into the bottle over the uncooked strips of lemon zest, making sure not to let any of the cooked strips of lemon zest get in. Cork the bottle and store in the refrigerator.

Rosemary-Infused

Stuff rosemary sprigs into the glass bottle and set aside. Heat olive oil in a saucepan until a few bubbles start forming. Carefully pour warm olive oil into bottle over rosemary. Cork the bottle and store in the refrigerator.

Spread out the cloves in one layer in a small baking dish. Pour enough olive oil over the garlic so that the cloves are completely immersed. Roast in a hot oven for 30-45 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool. Scoop the cloves from the oil into a bowl using a slotted spoon. Pour the reserved lime juice over the cloves with 1/2 cup your oil and stir to combine. GM Employees Take Initiative to Help out Hurricane-Struck Puerto Rico and Texas

OKEMOS, Mich.,–– Our social responsibility to our country is to help those in need when crisis strikes. For better or for worse, we are supposed to stick together. GM employees did just that when Texas and Puerto Rico were struck with a major disaster just over a month ago. Any little bit of help makes an impact during a considerable and difficult time for many families. Relief was sent when GM employees took initiative to help out hurricane-struck Puerto Rico and Texas.

GM Employees Take Initiative to Help out Hurricane-Struck Puerto Rico and Texas

Donations were made by hundreds of GM employees to Puerto Rico that amounted to 12 tons of goods. These items included solar cellphone chargers and lights, batteries, canned foods, baby formula, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, and bottled water. 25 employees gathered together saws, hammers, tape, and other necessary supplies to help repair the homes of families struck by Hurricane Maria.

“There were so many people involved in this project,” said NASCAR Program Manager Alba Colon, who is from Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. “It would be impossible to recognize everyone, but we would not have done this without all those involved in planning, leads from every area, managers, supervisors, teamGM Cares and employees from facilities, docks and truck drivers. Everyone had an important role in making this happen.”

Many employees collected trailers full of goods and delivered them to various nonprofit organizations that were along the impacted areas in Texas. On top of all that, there were 30 employees who helped clean up the debris from homes of hurricane victims. They also began to start rebuilding these homes as an initiative from the Habitat Hammers Back campaign launch.

The incredible work that these employees have done to make a difference in the lives of those affected by Hurricane Maria and Hurricane Harvey has been tremendous. Uniting as a company and as a country is a testament in itself. A special thank you to the GM employees that took initiative to help out hurricane-struck Puerto Rico and Texas! If you are interested in volunteering with teamGM Cares or you would like to make a donation to support the ongoing emergency response efforts of the American Red Cross, visit the teamGM Cares website. At Graff Chevrolet in Okemos, we find it our duty to become involved within our community. Take a look at the huge part we play within the Okemos community on our website!

GM Partners With Lyft to Create Autonomous Vehicle Fleet

GM Partners With Lyft to Create Autonomous Vehicle Fleet

OKEMOS, Mich. –– General Motors recently announced plans to test autonomous vehicle technology on the 2016 Chevrolet Volt, but now the automaker is going a step further in the new year.

GM is partnering with Lyft to create an autonomous vehicle fleet. Lyft is yet another on-demand driving app being offered in the dawn of rental vehicle services, second in national popularity to Uber.

According to the startup, the app "matches you with local drivers at the tap of a button." You request a ride, get picked up, and pay the driver through the app after you're dropped off at your destination.

To support the new partnership, GM will invest $500 million into Lyft, with the development of an autonomous fleet at the center of its funding. GM will also support an immediate changeover in operation for Lyft drivers. Instead of using their own vehicles, Lyft drivers will now be able to rent vehicles.

GM Partners With Lyft to Create Autonomous Vehicle Fleet
GM partnering with Lyft to create an autonomous vehicle fleet is just one of the ways the automaker is radically changing its business plan. Not only will GM continue to sell cars, it will also rent them, while over time developing an autonomous vehicle fleet owned by another company––Lyft.

But watch out; Google and Ford are partnering to develop self-driving vehicles, according to Yahoo Autos. And Uber plans to have an autonomous vehicle fleet by 2030. Are we finally seeing the manifestations of a new automotive industry for the 21st century?

Despite the influx of new automotive technology and talk of autonomous vehicles, GM has strongly stated it doesn't wish to take away the driving experience so many of its customers enjoy. While GM is putting a large focus on these new business pathways of rental and driverless vehicles, you can rest assured the Chevrolet vehicles you enjoy will still be available at our Chevrolet dealership.

GM to Test Autonomous Vehicle Technology on 2016 Chevrolet Volt

OKEMOS, Mich. –– There's been much talk of driverless vehicles as of late, and while General Motors and its Chevrolet brand have remained less outspoken than other automotive companies, it would be a mistake to underestimate their level of commitment to this future model of transportation.

According to Transport Evolved, an online transportation news source, GM will test autonomous vehicle technology on the 2016 Chevrolet Volt and "build a fleet of self-driving 2017 Chevrolet Volts in order to develop and refine GM's self-driving vehicle technology for future production use."

Although many drivers have already developed an aversion to autonomous vehicle technology, this is overall exiting news for GM and Chevy. There are many benefits to autonomous driving technology when it's implemented correctly and provides drivers with the right arrangement of vehicle enhancements.

As GM tests autonomous vehicle technology on the 2016 Chevrolet Volt, it seems the automaker will split the project into a series of stages. Throughout the initial phase, GM will work on a smartphone app that connects with the Volt and will enable employees at the automaker's Warren Technical Center in Michigan to "reserve a car for use and have it meet them at a predetermined pickup point in the parking lot," according to Transport Evolved. After an employee chooses a destination, the Volt will drive them there, then park and wait for the next employee to summon it.

Most drivers don't immediately associate autonomous vehicle technology with benefits such as this, but GM seems determined to uncover as many positive factors as possible through autonomous vehicle technology tests carried out on the 2016 Volt. We can rest assured the automaker will make strides as time goes on, considering it has partook in driverless vehicle testing in the past. For instance, with the EN-V and a driverless SUV produced 10 years ago––talk about ahead of the times.

For drivers who still find GM's autonomous vehicle technology testing on the 2016 Volt dubious or disturbing, fear not. GM CEO Mary Barra has already disclosed the automaker has no intentions of doing away with its owner-driver vehicles, but instead would offer a separate transportation solution alongside this traditional mode where people could essentially rent driverless vehicles for short trips.

Believe us when we say we love driving our Chevys, and most likely always will enjoy that experience over whatever a driverless vehicle could potentially offer. But knowing GM is willing to broaden its business to include more transportation options through autonomous vehicle technology reminds us of the automaker's commitment to innovation visible in each of the Chevy vehicles at our Delta Charter Township area Chevrolet dealer.

GM Brings Car-Sharing Program to Ritzy NYC Residents

GM Brings Car-Sharing Program to Ritzy NYC Residents

© General Motors

OKEMOS, Mich. –– After months of hinting at new ideas for improving transportation, including increased efforts with vehicle connectivity and autonomous driving innovations, General Motors will bring car-sharing to New York City residents.

For now, the new car-sharing program, called “Let’s Drive NYC,” will serve residents of The Ritz Plaza, an apartment building at Times Square in Midtown Manhattan and home to many affluent citizens.

“When GM approached us with their car-sharing program, we were excited to incorporate this innovative service to further enhance our residents’ lifestyle,” said Ofer Yardeni, chairman and CEO of Stonehenge, a company focused on bolstering community environments in Manhattan. “Owning a vehicle in New York City is expensive and inconvenient. GM’s Let’s Drive NYC car-sharing program delivers a valuable and sought-after amenity, and residents of The Ritz Plaza are taking full advantage of it.”

With GM’s new car-sharing program, residents will have another convenient transportation option in addition to New York’s subway system, buses, taxis, bikes, and walking. Owning and driving a vehicle in a large city like New York is more of a burden than a privilege, but with car-sharing that mode of transportation becomes more feasible as users aren’t faced with the dilemma of finding costly garage space or handling routine maintenance.

“Customers want options on how to move from Point A to Point B that provide flexibility and personalization,” said GM President Dan Ammann. “Let’s Drive NYC is just one part of GM’s global urban mobility strategy. We view evolving consumer preferences, such as car-sharing, as real business opportunities, where we can quickly build on our existing capabilities such as OnStar connectivity to very effectively meet customer needs.

To enhance the car-sharing program GM is bringing to New York residents, the automaker is providing a mobile app that allows residents to find parking at any of Icon Parking Systems’ 200 Manhattan garages. For now, residents will have the choice of driving one of the eight Chevrolet Trax SUVs or one of the two Chevrolet Equinox SUVs that currently make up the car-sharing fleet.

To drive the vehicles, GM gives residents electronic credits worth three hours of rental per month. After those three hours, residents have to pay $10 an hour or $75 every 24 hours. But those prices aren’t too bad when you think about the cost of owning a vehicle as opposed to renting one out a few days a week.

This isn’t necessarily a foray into car-sharing for GM. The automaker has tested programs before debuting “Let’s Drive NYC,” such as their program in Toronto for university students, or their partnership with Google in 2014 that was a commuter ride-sharing service with Chevrolet Spark EVs. This new car-sharing program in New York is evidently all of GM’s best ideas bundled into one streamlined service.

If all goes well with “Let’s Drive NYC,” we’re betting GM expands the program to other residents in the city, and other cities across the nation. For now, the rest of us will have to continue owning our vehicles, not that many people have an aversion to that reality anyway. Stop by our Chevrolet dealer near East Lansing, MI, to experience the performance of a new Chevy.

GM Plans to Expand Car Connectivity and Autonomous Driving

GM Plans to Expand Car Connectivity and Autonomous Driving

OKEMOS, Mich. –– General Motors recently disclosed plans to expand car connectivity and autonomous driving technology across its myriad automotive brands, and expects $350 million in revenue from its progress by 2018.

Having made strides in connectivity by implementing 4G LTE data connection into its vehicles, GM wants to continue to adapt and alter connectivity features and services for its vehicles. Connectivity and apps will help GM understand how drivers use its vehicles, including how they respond to features like automatic braking and hands-free highway driving, and help it continually improve its vehicle technology.

After releasing news that Chevrolet will partner with AutoShare to provide car sharing to university students in Toronto, GM has disclosed plans to expand car sharing as many customers lean towards more ecofriendly and economic modes of transportation.

GM plans to expand autonomous driving from its SuperCruise technology, which equips GM vehicles with driverless capability. But the automaker is quick to note that its higher-end performance and sports vehicles will remain intact to preserve their special character that drivers admire.

The automaker will also begin providing services through smartphone apps that add convenience to its vehicles. For instance, drivers could transfer personal driving preferences from one car to another, including across nameplates and brands, to notify car how to function.

If there’s one automaker who has taken a strategic and thoughtful approach to how they develop and implement technology into their future fleets, it’s GM. You can see the beginnings of these technological innovations and their careful progression throughout the years in the used Chevy vehicles at our Williamston area car dealer.

Hank Graff Chevrolet Okemos is committed to providing you with integrity and convenience, all close to home.
