Celebrate the Camaro Turning Fifty

OKEMOS, Mich. – This August Chevrolet is planning a series of events as they celebrate the Camaro turning fifty. Since the Camaro was first introduced in September of 1966, it has become a muscle car icon and hasn’t slowed down yet. The upcoming events will take place in Lansing and Detroit. They will highlight the history and reflect the love consumers have had for the Chevy performance vehicle throughout the years. Lansing Grand River

On August 18th you can visit the General Motors Lansing Grand River plant for a tour and a closer look at where the Camaro is built. Camaro owners will be able to park in a special area with their vehicle. Activities include a car show, heritage display, and discussions with Camaro team members. There will also be onsite food venders and a Camaro 50th merchandise tent.

Detroit Camaro Fifty Rally and Woodward Dream Cruise
On August 19th Camaro drivers are invited to attend the event at Joe Louis Arena Riverfront parking lot. They can enjoy coffee and get prepared to lead the Camaro Rally toward Woodward Avenue. The event will begin at 7:30 AM and the rally will start at 9:45 am. Camaro drivers can then drive the famous cruise route on Woodward Avenue into the afternoon.

4 New Chevy Cars on Display at NAIAS 2016

OKEMOS, Mich. –– Whether or not you're a Chevrolet fan won't be a factor in the level of your experience at the Detroit Auto Show this year. Thanks to four new Chevy cars on display at the 2016 North American International Auto Show, you'll leave Cobo Hall––where the show is held––imbued with a futuristic vision.

Four new Chevy cars on display at NAIAS 2016––the 2017 Bolt EV, 2016 Cruze, 2017 Cruze Hatch, and 2016 Malibu Hybrid––are clear game-changers for Chevy, General Motors, and, in general, the auto industry. 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV

The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV offers an impressive driving range of 200 miles on one electric charge, as well as an affordable price around $33,000. A partnership with LG Corp. has enabled GM to develop a litany of new technological features for the Bolt that will add additional value to the electrified vehicle.

2016 Chevrolet Cruze

The new Cruze’s athletic build houses technology for 7 connected devices with available 4G LTE Wi-Fi, and is the first in its class to offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Those are the fun aspects of the new Cruze, but it’s also efficient with an EPA-estimated 35 mpg highway. With 10 air bags and available standard OnStar for the first 6 months, the 5-seater 2016 Cruze is also a safe haven for drivers and their passengers.

2017 Chevrolet Cruze Hatch

The hatchback provides ample room for extra storage thanks to its 18.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the back seat, made 42 cubic feet of cargo space with the back seat folded down. It's equipped with an EcoTec turbocharged 1.4L four-cylinder engine with direct injection and start/stop technology. With the hatchback, the Cruze's former 138 horsepower gallops to 153, and its 135 ft-lb. of torque increases to 177. The hatchback is also lighter by 100 pounds as a result of its lean body design, and by 44 pounds as a result of the new EcoTec engine.

2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid

Inches have been added to the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid's interior legroom, its fuel economy is higher than ever, and the overall it's 300 pounds lighter than the previous generation. The Malibu Hybrid is estimated to deliver 45 mpg combined, partly thanks to Chevy utilizing super-thin, high-strength steel throughout the Malibu's body. The new Teen Driver function allows parents to track information like maximum speed, miles driven, and active safety features to keep their worries at bay knowing their teens are safe.

Chevrolet Officially Debuts 2017 Bolt EV

OKEMOS, Mich. –– It was only in June when the first 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV sighting occurred and auto news outlets disseminated a few spy shots to the public. Shortly after, Chevy released a test-drive video of the electrified vehicle, followed by news that the Bolt EV would incorporate unique technology produced by LG Corp.

Now, Chevrolet has officially debuted the 2017 Bolt EV at the Consumer Electronics Show. It was an apropos environment to show off the electrified vehicle and promote its long-range capability and affordability.

Stemming from the suggestions and opinions of Chevy Volt drivers, the 2017 Bolt EV was created for EV-driving consumers with specific technologies in mind that make owning and driving a Chevy EV long distances more feasible than ever.

Making the driving experience more manageable through personalized solutions was a key factor in developing the Bolt EV. Thanks to innovative technology, drivers will be able to estimate driving range according to "the time of day, typography, weather, and the owner's driving habits," according to Chevy.

Other key features that come with the 2017 Bolt EV include Bluetooth low-energy, which connects an owner's smartphone to the car as they walk towards it, and many technologies supported by OnStar 4G LTE, making the Bolt EV a Wi-Fi hotspot.

New myChevrolet Mobile App Enhances Chevrolet Driver Experience

OKEMOS, Mich. –– The new myChevrolet mobile app will enhance Chevrolet drivers' experiences when Chevrolet debuts it at CES 2016. It's yet another instance of Chevrolet continuing its integration of technology, like smartphone conveniences, into its vehicles.

The new app will enable drivers to control and manage their Chevy vehicle by combining new services it brings with current services from OnStar RemoteLink apps. This will provide drivers with "easier mobile access to roadside assistance, parking reminders, owner's manual content, vehicle diagnostics, Wi-Fi hotspot management, and key fob commands such as remote start and door unlock," according to Chevrolet.

The new myChevrolet mobile app will enhance Chevrolet drivers' experiences by offering a new user experience. The app will become the base for Chevy's venture into more advanced mobile options in the future for its drivers.

“The myChevrolet app will be the most comprehensive vehicle app available – and will support the ownership experience over the life of the vehicle,” said Paul Edwards, vice president, Chevrolet marketing. “By integrating OnStar RemoteLink features into the myChevrolet app, we’re creating a one-stop-app for owners to manage their vehicle with one user profile and unified log-in.”

With the synthesis of myChevrolet and OnStar RemoteLink, drivers will still have many current services from OnStar RemoteLink available to them through their smartphones, including:

Unlocking and locking vehicle's doors,
Activating vehicle's horn and lights
Starting vehicle's engine from any distance
Diagnostics like vehicle fuel range, tire pressure, and oil life
Personalized retail offers from the AtYourService app feature
Sending directions to the vehicle's navigation system
Management of Wi-Fi hotspot and data plan (with OnStar 4G LTE-equipped vehicle)

These convenient features will be implemented into the new myChevrolet mobile app, along with the power to call on roadside assistance, schedule maintenance, access the vehicle owner manual, and set parking reminders. Depending on which services a driver uses most, they can set tabs on their home screen to make access to them quicker.

GM to Test Autonomous Vehicle Technology on 2016 Chevrolet Volt

OKEMOS, Mich. –– There's been much talk of driverless vehicles as of late, and while General Motors and its Chevrolet brand have remained less outspoken than other automotive companies, it would be a mistake to underestimate their level of commitment to this future model of transportation.

According to Transport Evolved, an online transportation news source, GM will test autonomous vehicle technology on the 2016 Chevrolet Volt and "build a fleet of self-driving 2017 Chevrolet Volts in order to develop and refine GM's self-driving vehicle technology for future production use."

Although many drivers have already developed an aversion to autonomous vehicle technology, this is overall exiting news for GM and Chevy. There are many benefits to autonomous driving technology when it's implemented correctly and provides drivers with the right arrangement of vehicle enhancements.

As GM tests autonomous vehicle technology on the 2016 Chevrolet Volt, it seems the automaker will split the project into a series of stages. Throughout the initial phase, GM will work on a smartphone app that connects with the Volt and will enable employees at the automaker's Warren Technical Center in Michigan to "reserve a car for use and have it meet them at a predetermined pickup point in the parking lot," according to Transport Evolved. After an employee chooses a destination, the Volt will drive them there, then park and wait for the next employee to summon it.

Most drivers don't immediately associate autonomous vehicle technology with benefits such as this, but GM seems determined to uncover as many positive factors as possible through autonomous vehicle technology tests carried out on the 2016 Volt. We can rest assured the automaker will make strides as time goes on, considering it has partook in driverless vehicle testing in the past. For instance, with the EN-V and a driverless SUV produced 10 years ago––talk about ahead of the times.

For drivers who still find GM's autonomous vehicle technology testing on the 2016 Volt dubious or disturbing, fear not. GM CEO Mary Barra has already disclosed the automaker has no intentions of doing away with its owner-driver vehicles, but instead would offer a separate transportation solution alongside this traditional mode where people could essentially rent driverless vehicles for short trips.

New 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Debuts in Lansing

OKEMOS, Mich. –– Since Chevrolet first made public its intentions to move production of its most popular muscle car from Canada to Lansing, it would be an understatement to say we were ecstatic. Now we’re seeing our community come to life after the new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro debuted in Lansing on Monday, Oct. 26, 2015.

The first three Camaros rolled off General Motors’ Lansing assembly line in the true fashion of America, sporting paint coats of red, white, and blue. The three pony cars are among 100 Camaros produced for consumers, as opposed to the pilot vehicles the plant has been manufacturing for testing purposes over the course of months leading up to the official launch.

The new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro’s debut in Lansing is in tow of the muscle car’s first time being produced in America since 1992, and the people of Michigan’s capital area could easily be the most excited to see its return. Over the summer, GM hired 450 new employees to cover the second shift at its Lansing plant in order to keep production alive and well as consumer demand for the sixth-generation Camaro continues.

But the all-new Camaro isn’t just notable for its return home and its job creation. Considering the performance and design specs it showcases, it’s no wonder the Camaro is already up for the 2016 North American Car of the Year Award, despite not even hitting lots like our Chevrolet dealer near Lansing, MI.

The sixth-generation Camaro speeds to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds and travels a quarter of a mile in about 12 seconds. That’s not surprising considering the Camaro 1LT is built with a 2.0L 4-cylinder or 3.6L V6 engine, while the 1SS is built with a 6.2L V8 engine. When it comes to great design elements, drivers have the option of both models in either coupe or convertible styles.

GM Integrates LG Corp. Technology Into 2017 Chevrolet Bolt

OKEMOS, Mich. –– There have been ostensible advancements in vehicle-technology integration over the course of just a few years, and now that General Motors is incorporating technology from LG Corp. into the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt, this particular electric vehicle could set multiple new benchmarks in a rapidly evolving automotive industry.

GM has already touted the Chevy Bolt’s impressive driving range of 200 miles on one electric charge, as well as its affordable price projected at $30,000. But a partnership with LG Corp. has enabled GM to develop a litany of new technological features for the Bolt that will add additional value to the EV.

“Chevrolet needs to be disruptive in order to maintain our leadership position in electrification,” said Mark Reuss, GM executive vice president of Global Product Development, Purchasing and Supply Chain. “By taking the best of our in-house engineering prowess established with the Chevrolet Volt and Spark EV, and combining the experience of the LG Group, we’re able to transform the concept of the industry’s first long range, affordable EV into reality.”

New technology GM and LG Corp. are integrating into the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt, include:

Electric Drive Motor
Power Invertor Module (converts DC power to AC for the drive unit)
On Board Charger
Electric Climate Control System Compressor
Battery Cells and Pack
High Power Distribution Module (manages the flow of high voltage to various components)
Battery Heater
Accessory Power Module (maintains low-voltage power delivery to accessories)
Power Line Communication Module (manages communication between vehicle and a DC charging station)
Instrument Cluster
Infotainment System

To produce the new components for the Bolt, LG Electronic Vehicle Components has invested $250 million into a facility located in Korea. GM will manufacture the Bolt itself at its plant in Orion Township starting in late 2016.

Chevrolet Releases Gen Six Camaro Pricing and Online Visualizer

OKEMOS, Mich. – If you thought the raucous over the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro was dying down, think again. Chevrolet released Gen Six Camaro pricing and an online visualizer that allows you to see what your new Camaro will look like and get a sense of how much it will cost.

With an ever-unfurling list of updates and new features, the 2016 Camaro 1LT comes with a suggested retail price of $26,695. The Camaro SS, Chevy’s most powerful Camaro to date, jumps up to $37,295 for the 1SS – still not that hefty of a price tag for the top-performing pony car.

The new Camaro will arrive in a simpler lineup of only two models – LT and SS – and four trim levels – 1LT, 2LT, 1SS, and 2SS. Now that Chevy released Gen Six Camaro pricing and an online visualizer, you can figure out beforehand what you plan on paying, plus what you want your new prized possession to look like.

The online Camaro Visualizer lets you check out features you can use to customize your Camaro with, including five interior and 10 exterior colors, interior accents, ground effects, wheels, and stripes. Other accessories highlights include:

Three aluminum wheel designs, in multiple finishes
Grille kits with six body-color inserts for LT and SS models; inserts are also available in chrome-appearance or primed versions for custom painting
A blade-style rear spoiler and a ground effects kit, each offered in 10 colors
Four exterior graphics packages, offered in multiple colors, including a body-side “spear” design; rally stripe design; front-fender “hash mark” design; and a racing stripe design
Interior trim kits, offered in multiple colors, including knee pads and door accent trim

Pre-Order the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro in August

OKEMOS, Mich.– As the latter half of 2015 kicks in, major automakers are coming forward with their latest and greatest for the next model year, and there’s no doubt car enthusiasts are anticipating production of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro.

According to an inside source from Chevy, you may be able to pre-order the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro in August, specifically August 13, a much earlier release date than you may have expected. The news comes as a surprise to many seeing as Chevy neglected to give even a ballpark release date when it officially unveiled the sixth generation Camaro back in May.

First released in 1966, the Camaro has not been so neck-and-neck with the Ford Mustang as many enthusiasts claim. In fact, you might say the Camaro has outdone its pony car competitor in regards to design, technology and, most of all, performance.

Sure, that’s a pretty strident claim, but you don’t need to hear it from the experts to believe it– the consumers’ wallets do all the talking. Since 2010 the Camaro has outsold the Mustang and proven its preeminence as a pony car, which brings us back to all of the commotion that you could potentially pre-order the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro this August.

It’s definitely worth noting that General Motors has in no way endorsed this rumor, not even releasing a subtle hint that might serve as validation. However, when information like this hits the streets it’s typically on target, especially seeing as no one from Chevy has denied the claims.

300 Workers Hired to Build Chevy Bolt

OKEMOS, Mich.– General Motors plans to invest $245 million into its Orion Township, Michigan, assembly plant and will have 300 workers hired to build the Chevy Bolt there.

Rather than creating jobs elsewhere, GM and Chevrolet are sticking to their Michigan roots and investing in a community located in the state that birthed the automotive industry.

“Orion Assembly is a breeding ground for manufacturing innovation,” said Cathy Clegg, vice president of GM North America manufacturing and labor relations, in a statement. “It serves as a model to engage the entire workforce at all levels to achieve success.”

As of now 1,580 hourly and 180 salaried workers assemble the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano at the Orion Township plant, but consumer interest for compact cars has waned due to their affinity for larger vehicles.

Loss of interest in compact sedans has resulted in GM cutting down production and being forced to lay off 100 workers at Orion throughout the remainder of 2015, which is why bringing Chevy Bolt manufacturing to this plant will be such a boon to the local community. The Bolt goes on sale in 2017, so GM will have 300 workers hired to build the Chevy Bolt sometime by then, after proper manufacturing equipment is installed with the $245 million investment.

The Bolt is touted for its expected range of 200 miles on one full charge and will be priced at around $30,000. Thanks to GM’s first all-electric vehicle, soon Orion Township will recover lost jobs and tack on 200 more.

2017 Chevy Bolt Sighting

OKEMOS, Mich.– Nothing gives us more of a jolt than when someone spots a new Chevy prototype, as with a recent 2017 Chevy Bolt sighting Autoblog made during the vehicle’s first test-drive.

The big news behind the 2017 Bolt is that one electric charge is expected to keep the innovative hatchback running for up to 200 miles. It’s uncertain what technology or machinery under the Bolt’s hood could allow for such incredible performance, but after watching this video we've concluded it has to be something good:

Unfortunately, as with all prototypes, the 2017 Chevy Bolt sighting mostly revealed the white and black swirls of camouflage hiding its true image. However, the contours and general shape of the EV are still very apparent. Based on the photos, things are looking good for the Bolt, which will be manufactured at a General Motors factory in Lake Orion, Mich.

Chevy plans to widen its EV consumer segment with the introduction of the 2017 Bolt, which is projected to cost $30,000 after potential tax incentives. For an EV with a range of 200 miles, the price seems well worth it.
