The Chevrolet Camaro Through The Years

The Chevrolet Camaro Through The Years

OKEMOS, Mich. – This year Chevrolet is celebrating the 50th anniversary of one of its most classic performance vehicles, the Camaro. Proven to become an American icon, the Camaro has stood the test of time as a fan favorite. The Camaro has survived six different generations and does not look like it is slowing down. The newest 2016 Camaro model is the most advanced yet and you can get a close up look at Graff Chevrolet Okemos. But before you get in the driver’s seat, let’s take a look at the Chevrolet Camaro through the years.

The Chevrolet Camaro Through The Years

First Generation:
The first generation of the Camaro was during 1967-1969. It was a time when muscle cars, drag racing cars, and road racing cars were becoming popular. The 1967 and 1969 Camaro models also each served at the Indy 500 pace car, creating a long lasting relationship with Chevrolet and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Second Generation:
The longest running model in Camaro history was the second generation, running from 1970-1981. The European-influenced styling gave the Camaro it’s best year ever in 1979 with 282,571 sold.

The Chevrolet Camaro Through The Years

Third Generation:

The third generation Camaro ran from 1982 -1992. It premiered an all-new architecture with a more aggressive styling. This was also the generation that introduced the first Camaro hatchback.

Fourth Generation:
The fourth generation improved the Camaro’s performance with higher-power engines. The new style incorporated a fast-raked windshield, which gave the car a sleeker profile. The fourth generation ran from 1993 – 2002, and the car saw a redesign in 1998.

Fifth Generation:
The Camaro saw a hiatus from 2002 to 2009, until the newest 2010 model was introduced. The fifth generation ran from 2010 to 2015 and focused more on the heritage of the performance vehicle. The fifth generation Camaro went on to sell more than 500,000 models and outpaced its rivals for 5 years in a row.

Sixth Generation:
We now welcome the newest generation with the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. This Camaro features a stronger architecture, top of the line technologies, and the highest-ever levels of performance. The 2016 Camaro has earned the 2016 Motor Trend Car of the Year award and will lead the way for up coming 2017 models.

Top 5 Chevrolet Vehicles on Display at SEMA 2015

OKEMOS, Mich. –– While we couldn't send one of our team members out to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas for 2015, we did get a chance to look over some of Chevrolet's most impressive special editions that they're showcasing.

With so many creative takes on vehicles from virtually every automaker known, it can be easy for spectacular vehicles like those from Chevy to get lost in the SEMA noise. To prevent that from happening we put together our own list of the top five Chevrolet vehicles on display at SEMA 2015 for you to enjoy.

1. Chevrolet Camaro Krypton

The Camaro Krypton is our favorite SEMA vehicle not only because we know how capable the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro V6 with the RS package is, but also because this design is unheard of. Chevy used krypton––one of the six noble gases used in fluorescent lights––as influence for the bursting green color you see, but the best part of Camaro Krypton's image are the electroluminescent Chevy bow-ties on the body sides that literally light up.

2. Realtree Bone Collector

The name says it all––this 2015 Chevrolet Silverado High Country 4x4 is designed with hunters in mind, although anyone would look and feel tough driving it. With a camouflage and hunter-inspired paint job––as well as a hunting-themed interior––the Realtree Bone Collector is equipped with every feature a pickup needs when it's going into the backwoods, including a cooler.

3. Chevrolet Camaro Black

Like Camaro Krypton, Camaro Black takes Chevy's famed muscle car to a new, darker level. This 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS coupe is utterly blacked out, with exception to its red LED headlamps that provide it with a dangerous glare. Take one look at Camaro Black, and you feel a sense of anticipation, like it might just do a burnout on its own.

4. Kid Rock's Silverado 3500

We're not surprised Michigan native Kid Rock was the inspiration behind this 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD with a 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8––the king of modern rock-n-roll and the king of modern trucks make a great duo. Kid Rock's Silverado 3500 is equipped with dual rear wheels and an oversized bow-tie on the grille, as well as two chugging smokestacks––apparently eco-friendly––giving drivers plenty of large features that live up to this concept's name.

5. Trax Red Line Series

It may not look like much, but we love the Red Line Series concept behind this 2016 Chevrolet Trax. The Red Line Series extends fro the Trax to the Malibu, Camaro, Colorado, and Silverado, and gives drivers a sense of what customization options Chevrolet wants to offer its customers. Soon, you could take an rather ordinarily designed crossover like the Trax and turn it into a head-turner.

If looking at our choice of the top five Chevrolet vehicles on display at SEMA 2015 doesn't make you long to be behind the wheel of a new Chevy car or truck, visit our Chevrolet dealership near Delta Charter Township, MI, and we'll find you a vehicle that does.

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Debut at Belle Isle Park

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Debut at Belle Isle Park

OKEMOS, Mich. – It's going down this weekend at Detroit's Belle Isle Park! The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Debut, that is. Have you seen the sixth-gen Camaro teaser photos? Trust us, you are not going to want to miss this Saturday's public event!

This Saturday, May 16th, the redesigned 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will make its public debut at Belle Isle Park, giving us all our first look at the sixth generation model. One look at the new Camaro's teaser photos and you can tell that it's updated design is going to be impressive, but the word on the street is that the muscle car's performance is just as impressive.

Engineering the next-gen Camaro was no easy feat. In fact, the car spent 350 hours in the wind tunnel - often for 24 hours at a time - all to deliver an even better aerodynamic experience. On top of that, engineers tested hundreds of changes, just millimeters at a time. But in the end it was all worth it because the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will offer improved stability thanks to a 30% improvement in total aerodynamic lift!
