The Chevrolet Camaro Through The Years
First Generation:
The first generation of the Camaro was during 1967-1969. It was a time when muscle cars, drag racing cars, and road racing cars were becoming popular. The 1967 and 1969 Camaro models also each served at the Indy 500 pace car, creating a long lasting relationship with Chevrolet and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Second Generation:
The longest running model in Camaro history was the second generation, running from 1970-1981. The European-influenced styling gave the Camaro it’s best year ever in 1979 with 282,571 sold.
Third Generation:
The third generation Camaro ran from 1982 -1992. It premiered an all-new architecture with a more aggressive styling. This was also the generation that introduced the first Camaro hatchback.
Fourth Generation:
The fourth generation improved the Camaro’s performance with higher-power engines. The new style incorporated a fast-raked windshield, which gave the car a sleeker profile. The fourth generation ran from 1993 – 2002, and the car saw a redesign in 1998.
Fifth Generation:
The Camaro saw a hiatus from 2002 to 2009, until the newest 2010 model was introduced. The fifth generation ran from 2010 to 2015 and focused more on the heritage of the performance vehicle. The fifth generation Camaro went on to sell more than 500,000 models and outpaced its rivals for 5 years in a row.
Sixth Generation:
We now welcome the newest generation with the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. This Camaro features a stronger architecture, top of the line technologies, and the highest-ever levels of performance. The 2016 Camaro has earned the 2016 Motor Trend Car of the Year award and will lead the way for up coming 2017 models.

Chevrolet Wins Two of Ward's 10 Best Engines Awards
OKEMOS, Mich. –– Many drivers or potential customers of Chevrolet focus, understandably, on the automaker's expertise in designing sleek and technologically modern vehicles that create enjoyable experiences on the road. However, there's a whole other world of notable craftsmanship that doesn't get the same spotlight: the engine and other mechanical components, the organs of the machines that people love to drive.
But now that Chevrolet has won two of Ward's 10 Best Engines awards––one for the 2016 Camaro's 3.6L V6, the other for the 2016 Volt's Voltec propulsion system––we're sure Chevrolet's engineer's will feel a greater sense of being appreciated.
“This recognition is a win for our customers with improved efficiency and performance and a credit to our engineering teams and supplier partners,” said Dan Nicholson, vice president, Global Powertrain. “It isn’t enough to just be good. Many of our competitors are good. At GM, we are committed to consistently delivering great propulsion systems.”

2016 Camaro 3.6L V6 Engine
As Drew Winter––director, Content at WardsAuto––states, the 2016 Camaro's engine is like a "V8 for the price of a V6" and is "loaded with advanced technology, including fuel-saving cylinder deactivation." Available in the Camaro LT, the 3.6L V6 generates an SAE-certified 335 horespower and 284 lb-ft of torque, making it the best-performing naturally aspirated V6 engine available in the Camaro's segment.
Other notable points on the Camaro's 3.6L V6 are its "direct injection, continuously variable valve timing and, for the first time, Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation), which disables two cylinders under light throttle applications to enhance efficiency," according to Chevrolet. Drivers will also appreciate the engine's EPA-estimated fuel economy of 23 mpg city and 28 mpg highway, and its special design to reduce noise.

2016 Volt Voltec Propulsion System
The Volt's Voltec is already the auto industry's leading propulsion system, but now Chevrolet has made it even more formidable with a lighter and stronger design, as well as much longer electric range capability. The Voltec has an electrified vehicle range of 53 miles, and can drive 420 miles with combined EV and fuel. But if drivers charge their Volt regularly, Chevrolet says driving over 1,000 miles between fill-ups is attainable. The Voltec propulsion system achieves a combined EPA-estimated 42 mpg.
As much as we love the design and technology present in Chevrolet's new vehicles, Chevrolet winning two of Ward's 10 Best Engines awards is a good reminder of how much equal effort and skills the automaker includes under the hoods of its best-selling products.

Chevrolet Colorado, Camaro Motor Trend Vehicles of the Year
OKEMOS, Mich. –– Once again demonstrating its prowess in the automotive world, Chevrolet has clutched two awards from Motor Trend magazine, which named the Chevrolet Colorado and Chevrolet Camaro Motor Trend vehicles of the year for 2016.
2016 Chevrolet Colorado
After General Motors took a chance at the midsize truck segment while other automakers chose to refrain, the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado came out on top and won Motor Trend Truck of the Year. Within the first 10 months of the Chevrolet Colorado being on the marketing, GM sold 70,291, proving its popularity up against an array of full-size pickups other automakers stayed focused on developing. Learn more about the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado here.
2016 Chevrolet Camaro
After a stunning debut earlier this year, the enhanced 2016 Chevrolet Camaro––built in lansing––came out on top to win the Motor Trend Car of the Year award alongside its Truck of the Year companion. Considering the Chevrolet Camaro's improved performance, lighter design, updated technologies, and package upgrades just before its 50th year as an American––now global––favorite, it isn't so surprising the muscle car beat out high-end competitors such as the Audi TT, BMW 7 Series, and Mercedes-Benz GT S. Learn more about the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro here.
You can find your favorite new Chevy trucks and new Chevy cars, like the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado and the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Motor Trend vehicles of the year, at our Mason area Chevrolet dealer. New 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Debuts in Lansing
© General Motors
OKEMOS, Mich. –– Since Chevrolet first made public its intentions to move production of its most popular muscle car from Canada to
Lansing, it would be an understatement to say we were ecstatic. Now we’re
seeing our community come to life after the new
2016 Chevrolet Camaro debuted in Lansing on Monday, Oct. 26, 2015.
The first three Camaros rolled off General Motors’ Lansing
assembly line in the true fashion of America, sporting paint coats of red,
white, and blue. The three pony cars are among 100 Camaros produced for
consumers, as opposed to the pilot vehicles the plant has been manufacturing
for testing purposes over the course of months leading up to the official
launch.
The new 2016 Chevrolet
Camaro’s debut in Lansing is in tow of the muscle car’s first time being
produced in America since 1992, and the people of Michigan’s capital area could
easily be the most excited to see its return. Over the summer, GM hired 450 new employees to cover the second shift at its Lansing plant in order to keep production alive
and well as consumer demand for the sixth-generation Camaro continues.
The sixth-generation Camaro speeds to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds and travels a quarter of a mile in about 12 seconds. That’s not surprising considering the Camaro 1LT is built with a 2.0L 4-cylinder or 3.6L V6 engine, while the 1SS is built with a 6.2L V8 engine. When it comes to great design elements, drivers have the option of both models in either coupe or convertible styles.
The 2016 Camaro will be at Hank Graff Chevrolet Okemos in mid-November for you to test-drive, but don’t let that stop you from checking out our other new Chevys for sale near Lansing, MI. Hank Graff Chevrolet Okemos is committed to providing you with integrity and convenience, all close to home. With an ever-unfurling list of updates and new features, the
2016 Camaro 1LT comes with a suggested retail price of $26,695. The Camaro SS,
Chevy’s most powerful Camaro to date, jumps up to $37,295 for the 1SS – still
not that hefty of a price tag for the top-performing pony car.
The new Camaro will arrive in a simpler lineup of only two models – LT and SS – and four trim levels – 1LT, 2LT, 1SS, and 2SS. Now that Chevy released Gen Six Camaro pricing and an
online visualizer, you can figure out beforehand what you plan on paying,
plus what you want your new prized possession to look like.
The online Camaro Visualizer lets you check out features you
can use to customize your Camaro with, including five interior and 10 exterior
colors, interior accents, ground effects, wheels, and stripes. Other
accessories highlights include:

- Four exterior graphics packages, offered in multiple colors, including a body-side “spear” design; rally stripe design; front-fender “hash mark” design; and a racing stripe design
- Interior trim kits, offered in multiple colors, including knee pads and door accent trim
Based on the Gen Six Camaro model and trim you choose, you
can also pick alternate-finish variants like smoked taillamp lenses and
blacked-out or LED-illuminated Chevy bowtie emblems.Giving you more of a say in how you want your 2016 Chevy
Camaro to look is one of the customer-focused facets of Chevrolet that make

Pre-Order the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro in August
© General Motors
OKEMOS, Mich.– As the latter half of 2015 kicks in, major automakers are
coming forward with their latest and greatest for the next model year, and
there’s no doubt car enthusiasts are anticipating production of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro.
According to an inside source from Chevy, you may be able to
pre-order the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro in August, specifically August 13, a much earlier release date than you may have expected. The news comes as a
surprise to many seeing as Chevy neglected to give even a ballpark release date when it officially unveiled the sixth generation Camaro back in May.
First released in 1966, the Camaro has not been so
neck-and-neck with the Ford Mustang as many enthusiasts claim. In fact, you might say the
Camaro has outdone its pony car competitor in regards to design, technology
and, most of all, performance.
Sure, that’s a pretty strident claim, but you don’t need to
hear it from the experts to believe it– the consumers’ wallets do all the talking. Since 2010
the Camaro has outsold the Mustang and proven its preeminence as a pony car, which brings
us back to all of the commotion that you could potentially pre-order the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro this
August.
It’s definitely worth noting that General Motors has in no
way endorsed this rumor, not even releasing a subtle hint that might serve as validation.
However, when information like this hits the streets it’s typically on target,
especially seeing as no one from Chevy has denied the claims.
Hank Graff Chevrolet Okemos is committed to providing you with integrity and convenience, all close to home. 2016 Camaro to Create Jobs in Lansing
OKEMOS, Mich.– Chevrolet recently announced it has big plans for the 2016 Camaro to create jobs in Lansing! For the first time in 23 years, the Camaro is coming home to be manufactured in the U.S. and in the state where the auto industry first put down roots! If you ask us, there’s no better place for Chevy to manufacture America’s top-selling performance car.
Chevrolet’s goal is for the 2016 Camaro to create jobs in Lansing, and to do so they plan to invest $175 million into the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant! The investment will fund new tooling and equipment needed to manufacture the 2016 Camaro, which will be utilized by hundreds of new workers! Right off the bat, Chevy expects to start an additional 500 workers by late summer!
Upgrades to the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant will include the installation of two robotic framers that enhance dimensional control during manufacturing, and three new paint systems for specific 2016 Camaro colors– Summit White, Bright Yellow and Red Hot.
It’s great to see Chevrolet bringing the 2016 Camaro and jobs to our local Lansing and surrounding communities right near Graff Okemos! With the new Camaro being manufactured in our own backyard, we expect to have a fleet hot off the press that we can add to our current inventory of New Chevy Cars and New Chevy Trucks at our Dealership!

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Performance Review
OKEMOS, Mich.– Belle Isle was where it was at this past Saturday when the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro made it’s first public debut in Detroit! If you’re completely in the dark right now, keep reading! We’ve got you covered with a few major aspects that make the sixth generation Camaro a breakthrough performance vehicle.
Faster. Unheard-of handling. Lighter, athletic design. SIX
different powertrain options. We have a feeling that by the time you get
through this 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Performance Review, you’ll have an extreme
need for speed and you’ll definitely see how this new model is leaving previous
standards in the dust.
SAE-certified at 275 horsepower, the 2016 Camaro’s 2.0L
Turbo is the epitome of performance. With a weight reduction of 200 pounds to
increase efficiency, the sixth-gen Camaro still handles well while boasting 30
mpg on the highway! Not something you typically expect with a performance car
that jumps from 0-60 mph in less than 6 seconds!

When you combine performance and technology with the 2016 Chevrolet
Camaro’s design, you understand why this vehicle surpasses previous benchmarks.
The performance car’s athletic design and aerodynamic form took shape after 350
hours of wind tunnel testing, further exemplifying its performance abilities. After
all of these design upgrades, Chevy still left space for you to add your own
flare with 10 exterior colors and five interior color combinations to choose
from, as well as lighting options and an array of accessories, like wheels and
stripes packages.
The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is already making a name for
itself, but when it hits the streets you can expect it to really prove why it’s
the new standard performance vehicle. If you’re craving your own performance
vehicle, stop by our Chevrolet dealership, or visit us online at GraffOkemosGM.com to view our inventory!

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Debut at Belle Isle Park
This Saturday, May 16th, the redesigned 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will make its public debut at Belle Isle Park, giving us all our first look at the sixth generation model. One look at the new Camaro's teaser photos and you can tell that it's updated design is going to be impressive, but the word on the street is that the muscle car's performance is just as impressive.
Engineering the next-gen Camaro was no easy feat. In fact, the car spent 350 hours in the wind tunnel - often for 24 hours at a time - all to deliver an even better aerodynamic experience.
